Saving Settings

Create a USB memory device that can be used to reset the password.

1.

In Settings, click [Management].

2.

Click next to "Restore/Erase".

3.

Connect the USB memory device with the saved settings to a USB 2.0 port of the TeraStation (not a USB 3.0 port).

Notes:

If using a TeraStation model with a USB 3.0 port, do not connect the USB memory device where the settings will be saved to the USB 3.0 port.
Obtain a separate USB memory device with a size of 1 GB or more.
Any data contained in the USB memory device will be deleted. Be sure to back up any important data before-hand.

4.

From “Target USB drive”, select the USB memory device that is connected to the USB 2.0 port of the TeraStation.

5. Select [Create a special USB drive for password recovery]. This USB memory device will reset the TeraStation administrator password to the default password, then click [Execute].

Troubleshooting:

If the settings are not saved to the USB memory device successfully, you may receive the error message “The specified operation cannot be executed”. Verify:

The device is connected to a USB 2.0 port, not a USB 3.0 port.
The device has a capacity of 1 GB or larger.
The device is not write-protected.
The device does not have read-only partition.
The device does not have encryption feature which needs password for writing.
